I’m back!!

June 7, 2009

Sometimes I didn’t have my passport. At others, I didn’t have my visa. I think I’ve mentioned somewhere else, I’m jinxed when it comes to travel. And so, when I wanted to travel last year, it didn’t work out and it caused a huge fight between my best friend and me. That sucked!!

The long weekend

May 5, 2009

We got onto the ferry and five minutes into the sea, we were hit hard by another boat. That was scary. I could almost hear everyone’s knocking knees. We weren’t too far from the shore but it was scary nonetheless. After some fighting and grumbling from some other people, we progressed. The ferry was so damn slow! If I could walk on water, I’d have walked faster.

Back to school and much more

April 13, 2009

The guys got onto the bus and we all reached safe and sound. The morning was beautiful. Panchgani is a hill station. It was cool and we began looking for a hotel. We saw one and rejected it and then walked around the whole of Panchgani looking for another one only to come back to the first one. We got two rooms and got some rest.

A day in Paradise

April 7, 2009

Post all this, we fought with a cabbie, walked a lot in the humidity (after a shower), ate horrible food, fell really sick, made out and went to sleep. Our train was to leave at 9:30 the next morning. We, very comfortably sat in the AC compartment without tickets. But thankfully, we were a rather large group and so the ticket checker got confused.

Morning full of screams

February 13, 2009

It took some pushing, jabbing and murderous stares to finally get out of the crowd. I was walking down the bridge and the train arrived. The placement for the compartment meant for women is a short distance from the bridge and I had to reach it before the train started moving again. I walked as fast I could and it reminded me of my gym days when I used to walk on the treadmill and reach nowhere. Now I had to reach the compartment.

Bloody Goa

February 10, 2009

Not surprisingly, I missed my bus. I got stuck in one of the worst traffic jams ever in ‘Bandra’. Some of my friends got onto the bus while the others waited for me to reach the bus stop. They kept calling while I was stuck in a rickshaw. I had to get down from the rickshaw and run. Not walk, run. I was going to miss the bus, which like I said, I did. The bus stop was far from where I got off. So I had to run. WITH MY BAG!! A friend was with me at the time and we both ran.

The ride of a lifetime

February 4, 2009

We were to travel by ‘Tempo’. A local truck that looks like a rickshaw from the front and has some storage space behind. I left the house at 10 A.M. The sun was shining but the breeze was cool. I felt good. We were four people in all. The driver, the laborer, my grandmother and I. There was place for only two to sit in the front and so obviously, I sent my grandmother to sit in front while the laborer, whose name was ‘Vishnu’, and I sat behind.

This thing called alcohol

January 20, 2009

There air was full of excitement and nobody wanted to work and so they didn’t. But I had to. I have a lot of work. I still do but I just can’t get myself to get to doing it. Anyway, I was waiting for 4:30 while doing my work and my boss came up to me and said, “ah….you, I was looking for you”. I almost peed in my skirt. Why was he looking for me? I looked blankly into his face trying to comprehend what he was saying. It seemed like he was asking me for some music but I didn’t believe my ears. I was pretty sure he wasn’t saying that.

The train of events

January 15, 2009

I finally managed to leave early today and hence I reached on time. Thankfully, because I’m loaded with work and I desperately want to take a trip next weekend. It’s a long weekend considering Monday is “Republic Day’ so I don’t want my work to filter into the weekend. So I decided that I will come to work early everyday and complete whatever work I have.

The cabs of Mumbai

January 14, 2009

I asked the taxi guy to wait for 2 min while I withdrew some money from the ATM. He said he would wait, no problem. I ran across the road, risking my life, into the ATM. I withdrew a little money. I also had to have a receipt printed to know how much money I had left. Usually I just check it on the ATM because I don’t like wasting paper. And now I had to…and I felt really guilty about it. But I had to get to work and I had to get to my cab.
