When I was in Dubai before, I was, what you would call a ‘wild child’. Party every night, drink every night, come home at 5 and 6 in the morning. That was my lifestyle. I had my own car and when I wasn’t clubbing, I would be driving around with a drink in my hand and at least 3 bottles of vodka in my boot. Then everything changed because my mom threw me out of Dubai. She got fed up of me and cancelled my visa. I was back to Bombay.
Now that I’m back, I had to get my license made (I lost the previous one, just like I’ve lost all my other things) because I got strict warnings from my mom not to drive without a license. The road rules are far stricter now than they used to be 2 years ago. So yesterday, mom left for India and I left for the police station to lodge a complaint. The police here are quite co-operative unlike the Indian ‘havaldars’. If they can do something for you, they won’t ask you to come the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day. Of course, I had to flutter my eyes lashes and have a blonde moment here and there. That helped alot. But I was still there for an hour at least which considering the Indian standard time of getting anything done was not so bad.
After much smiling at policeman ‘Sultan’ I finally got the loss report which I then had to submit to the RTA (Road and Transport Authority). I was close to the bus depot and decided to take a bus. I called the call center and spoke to a poor guy wo couldn’t understand what I was saying. By the way, if you’re asking for bus routes from a bus depot, call it a bus station. Otherwise, no one will understand. At least the call center guy didn’t. Anyway, I had to go the Deira City Center and get my license made. It’s one of the biggest malls in the city. I stepped in and all I could see around me were ‘SALE’ signs. But I ignored them all. ME!! I IGNORED A SALE!!! I was so desperate to get my license, I didn’t stop at a single shop. Not even to check out some of the interesting stuff on sale.
I finally got my license and made it back home. I went out in the night with my friends. I’ve come back to Dubai after 2 years and I’ve forgotten all the roads which led me get lost twice. But at least now I know where not to go.
Anyway, I’m used to it. If I lose things I own, it’s only fair that I get lost sometimes too. Literally! I found my way back eventually and went to this club called ‘KEVA’. It’s new. It was okay. My friend suggested we go to ’KANDY CLUB’ where Juggy D had come to perform. So we did. I left my car behind because he said he would drop me back.
When we went to the club, for the first time in my life, I wasn’t allowed to enter. Can you believe that?? Just because I was wearing slippers. I know they have a problem with men wearing slippers but I’ve never heard a woman being turned down because of that. I had to come back home and change my shoes and then go back all the way.
By the end of it everyone was high but me. I didn’t drink. I had to drive. My mom’s voice was pounding inside my head. My friends were high and happy. Everyone was in a good mood. But then, Sami’s (my ex) current girlfriend called and spoiled everything. He got pissed and disappeared. Nothing new about that. The night pretty much ended there. I reached home at 5 in the morning because I got lost again on the way back home
. But it was a nice drive. Woke up early.
I’m really sleepy now.
